Kevin Rose

Kevin Rose | President Nominee

cKevin is the current Central Iowa Chapter President and previously served as Programs Director. Under his leadership, the CIC focused on member-value events. Due to market disrupters like Agile, Kevin prioritized and lead the establishment of the Agile Working Group and the creation of AmpEd – a cost-effective, all-day, hands-on workshop with premier speakers. He provided a vision and leadership for IBADD to grow to a 2 day event in order to bring members a large-style conference with in-depth workshops right here in the Des Moines area. Because of this, the CIC has been recognized by the parent IIBA organization with several Chapter awards: the 2017 Leadership & Excellence Award, the 2017 Chapter Sustainability Award, and the 2018 Delivering Member Value Award.


Prior to being part of IIBA, Kevin participated in several organizations including PMI, DAQAA, and Agile Iowa. He has worked as a BA, PM, and Agile Coach and currently manages a team of Scrum Masters, Project Managers, and Analysts at Athene USA. He lives in West Des Moines with his wife, two children, and new puppy. As President, Kevin will continue to innovate and evolve the Chapter to meet the changing needs of today’s Business Analysts.

Jodi Strasser

Jodi Strasser | Director of Communications Nominee

Jodi is the current Director of Communications and Technology and previously served as the Downtown Manager under the Director of Programs. As Communications Director, Jodi has responded to member feedback by creating a calendar of events on the Central Iowa IIBA website, expanding the chapter’s social media presence, and also plans to provide the opportunity to attend chapter meetings via video streaming by the end of this year. Even as a Director, Jodi remains closely engaged with the Director of Programs and has been vital in ensuring the logistics and communications are coordinated for every monthly Chapter meeting, Agile Working Group, BA & Brews, and AmpEd training. Jodi’s efforts have also been critical in expanding our network within the IIBA community by partnering with new businesses and locations to host events.

Jodi’s qualifications include working as a Quality Assurance Analyst, Quality Assurance Specialist, Operational Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, and Sr. Business Systems Analyst. Currently, Jodi works for Wellmark BCBS as a Sr. Business Systems Analyst and is actively involved in many of Wellmark’s Community of Practice initiatives. Jodi has accomplished her MBA with an emphasis in Quality Improvement, earned her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt for process improvement, and is also a Certified Product Owner. As Director of Communications, Jodi will continue to enhance and efficiently provide valuable communications to all Central Iowa IIBA members to ensure a positive experience!

Brenda Peshak

Brenda Peshak | Director of Communications Nominee

Brenda is currently a contract Product Owner/Scrum Master/BA. She has been doing some combination of Product Owner, Scrum Master, Product Manager, or BA roles for over ten years now. She has a master’s degree in Business Leadership and bachelor’s in business management.

Currently, she serves our chapter as the primary communication volunteer. She is the Communication Lead for IBADD 2019, and she was the technology volunteer for IBADD 2018. She have extensive experience in creating and scheduling our program email invitations, surveys and other chapter communications that help support our members growth.

In addition, she also manages updating our IIBA website to ensure it stays accurate and provides timely information. For IBADD 2018, she was responsible for all communication emails and surveys, updating the IIBA and IBADD website, and maintaining the IBADD electronic app to manage the conference agenda, sponsor/vendor areas, and feedback efforts.

She has extensive experience serving on a non-profit board in the communications space. As the Public Relations Officer for Iowa’s Toastmasters International Chapter, she was responsible for communication with members and the public. Experience includes: website maintained, communication of events, customer support for chapter correspondence. In addition, she also severed in a variety of board positions in which I was responsible for:

  • Marketing Plan
  • Roadmaps
  • Budget planning and implementation
  • Communication with members and public
  • Building membership
  • Training members and those in leadership roles

Her vision as your IIBA Director of Communication is to provide more transparency and more advanced notice of our upcoming events by:

  • Clearer focused emails
  • Up to date postings on the Website, Facebook, and Twitter

She plans to address our technology limitations by:

  • Improving the user experience by building a smarter user interface.
  • Improvements to the ticketing system to get questions answered quickly.

Kent Cole

Kent Cole | Director of Treasury and Finance Nominee

Kent Cole is the current Director of Treasury and Finance for the Central Iowa Chapter of IIBA. Shortly after becoming the Director in 2016 he initiated moving the accounting systems from desktop version of Quicken to QuickBooks Online to provide more flexibility and transparency for the board. Along with move involved a learning curve and changes in processes. Kent has some goals he wants to accomplish with the maturation of the new system and associated processes in order to setup the future Directors of Treasury and Finance a solid, easy to use platform and documented processes.

Kent is a Business Solutions Developer II (BA) at Farm Bureau Financial. Prior to working for Farm Bureau Financial he worked for Wells Fargo as a BA contractor. Kent moved from Germany where he was working as an Army Civilian employee for 5 years to Des Moines in 2013.

Shortly after arriving in Des Moines he became a Central Iowa IIBA member. Kent volunteered for IBADD 2016 on the Logistics committee where he moved into a co-lead position shortly after the committee was formed. Kent also coordinated and compiled the IBADD 2016 budget. Kent is currently in the role of Director of Treasury and Finance.

His financial background includes budgeting, financial reporting and analysis as an Army Civilian, Vanderbilt Medical Center, and a U.S. Naval Officer. His responsibilities included being personally accountable for $250,000 cash for check cashing, maintaining accounting records in accordance with government established procedures. During his naval service he was responsible for conducting government financial management training, reporting and auditing of 13 internationally located teams. He had oversight of a military unit’s use of government credit cards to include approvals of transactions of up to $25,000 per transaction.

Most of his career has included many aspects of BA work before most organizations knew the BA title existed. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Management from Oklahoma Christian University.

Mukulika Vashistha

Mukulika Vashistha | Director of Volunteerism and Outreach Nominee

Active IIBA member of Central Iowa Chapter since 2014. Currently working as a Sr. Business Systems Analyst at Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Total experience of more than 10 years working as BSA and developer (in past) within Finance and Health Insurance domains. Along with Masters in Computer Application, I also graduated with MBA from University of Northern Iowa in 2013. Also, currently hold CCBA®, CSM® professional designation. I like to explore and learn new things, meet new people, value inclusion & diversity, and help community in any way I can.

I have been actively involved in volunteering activities such as:

  • Iowa Food Bank (as part of University of Northern Iowa volunteering team)
  • Grout Museum District (created, conducted and analyzed their membership survey for improving customer outreach)
  • IBADD 2017 (Part of the sponsor outreach committee and participated in other volunteering activities as needed)

Laura Pfab

Laura Pfab | Director of Education Nominee

Laura Pfab is a Senior Business Analyst with a wide range of Insurance Industry knowledge. She has broadened her skill set with various agile training opportunities in 2018.

In her 28 years of industry experience first on the technical side and then on the business analyst side, she has had the opportunity to watch the business analyst evolve and grow in the Des Moines, Iowa area.

Laura served on the Central Iowa Chapter's Board of Directors when the first IBADD (Iowa Business Analyst Development Day) was successfully launched. Laura returned for her second stint on the Central Iowa board back in early 2016, as the Director of Education and was re-elected into that role for her current term (2016-2018).

Her vision includes bringing training opportunities for a reasonable cost to Central Iowa BAs. As the incumbent, Laura has added a CBAP/CCBA Certification class (priced at cost of materials and a minimal fee to encourage attendance) which had 11 attendees in the Spring of 2018 (inaugural session) which resulted in 2 certifications received so far. Also, Laura has added an Agile Extension Study Group which will start on November 5th and is currently full at it’s max of 15 attendees. A key note for this session is that it is the first dip into holding sessions via the Chapter’s WebEx. Laura has also been the chapter’s ambassador at various other Midwest chapter’s events to find new and interesting topics to present while helping to promote our chapter at the same time.

Laura was appointed the IIBA Deputy Director of the America’s Central Region in 2017 and is currently in that role.

Amy Diers

Amy Diers | Director of Education Nominee

Amy Diers, CCBA, is a Lead Business Systems Analyst with Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, focusing on initiatives primarily within the product development space. Amy has 7 years of experience in a formal business analyst role and over 10 years of experience in roles that involve analysis activities. Her roles have spanned various forms of insurance from property and casualty to life and health.

In the past 4 years, Amy has been actively involved as a volunteer with the IIBA Central Iowa Chapter. In addition to volunteering on the Elections Committee for several years, she has been highly engaged in the planning and execution of IBADD since 2015. Most recently, Amy served as Logistics Lead for IBADD 2017 and as the Vice-Chair of IBADD 2018 – the chapter’s first two full day development event.

In nearly five years with Wellmark, Amy has had the opportunity to benefit from a strong partnership between the chapter and her employer. In addition to employer support and encouragement for volunteering with the chapter, Amy participated in CCBA/CBAP boot camp and successfully obtained her CCBA designation in May 2015. Since obtaining her designation, Amy has been promoted to Senior Business Systems Analyst, and most recently, Lead Business Systems Analyst, as a result of her leadership on health insurance strategic initiatives and mentorship of peer business systems analysts.

Amy considers herself as a life-long learner who seeks out education opportunities within her role. While in non-health insurance industries, she obtained multiple designations, such as Associate in Life Management Institute (ALMI) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) with The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research. In applying for the Director of Education, she is excited to continue the existing programming provided by the chapter as well as work to identify ways to ensure all members have opportunities to further develop their business analysis skillset so members are equipped to be successful in our changing markets.
